YEREVAN (782 B.C) The capital of Armenia, Yerevan stretches in the valley of the biblical mount Ararat, where Noah's Ark first landed after the Great Flood. 
Yerevan was founded in 782 B.C. The Urartian king Argishti the First founded town Erebuni, the military and administration center of the ancient Armenian State Urartu, on the place of the present-day Yerevan. South-East of Yerevan a cuneiform inscription was found that testifies to the fact that Yerevan is 2783 years old, older than Rome, and is a contemporary of Babylon and Thebes, Nineveh and Karkemish. Present-day Yerevan is a rebuilt city with a unique architecture. The buildings are mainly constructed of basalt, volcanic tufa, marble and onyx. Yerevanians are quite art-loving people and there are numerous theatres and museums in the city. 
The National Opera and Ballet theatre was designed by the great Armenian architect A. Tamanyan and won the Grande Prix award of design in an architectural exhibition in Paris. 
MATENADARAN - THE DEPOSITORY AND INSTITUTE OF ANCIENT MANUSCRIPTS Matenadaran is a museum and a scientific institute named after Mesrop Mashtots, the creator of the Armenian alphabet.This is the world's richest depository with 15,000 Armenian as well as foreign ancient manuscripts. Numerous unique manuscrips in Armenian, Arabic, classical Greek, Hindi, Assyrian, Latin, Ethiopian, Georgian are preserved here for centuries.

NATIONAL ART GALLERY A huge depository of Armenian, Russian and European masterpieces. The Museum of Armenias History is in the same building and represents the Armenian history from ancient times to present days.

THE HOUSE OF PARLIAMENT Here is the seat of the Armenian Parliament a magnificent building with a wonderful spacious garden in front of it. 
TSITSERNAKABERD A HOLY PLACE FOR ALL ARMENIANS The memorial monument with the eternal flame and the museum dedicated to the 1.5 million of innocent victims of the 1915 Armenian Genocide stands on a high hilltop of Tsitsernakaberd.

SPORT AND ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX This building is situated next to the memorial monument of the 1915 Armenian Genocide. The Complex holds many different international events, celebrations and gala concerts. In 1996 the Center hosted the Chess Olympiad, which brought much attention and fame to the Complex's beautiful external.
